FLASH!  Three Cheers, One Oops!

Response to our first round of registration has been great.  You love our website, you like car shows, and you even want to spend an evening sitting in the bleachers watching kids 50 years your junior.  We are happy to welcome ’62 grads Bob Davis, Carla Cole (Murray), Ron Powers, Susie “Z” Rogers (Kastrin), Jon Weisheit Helen Emmons (Jackson) and Jack Nunn to the group. Also '63 friends Jim Dunlap, Jimmie Vaugh, and Gayle  Thompson (Dollarhide), plus Janet Kaiser (Campbell) ’61. We've lived diverse and interesting lives these past decades.

We also made a mistake, so to set the record straight:

1. BIG OOPS!  The correct number for the Holiday Inn is 915-778-6411 front desk and reference code IRB. Make your reservation ASAP.
2. All registration forms and fees must be sent to us the old fashioned way—by MAIL The Reunion Basics form on the website is handy for keeping track of registrants, but we still need hard copies.  Since many classmates don’t have email, printed forms are the most consistent way to register.  Remember, you can print the forms yourself by clicking the tab at the top of each form.

Mike Nichols, the Skype guy, would love to hear from anyone who wants to Skype, a web-based “live” chat on camera. Contact him for his Skype address.

Here is a photo of the ’62 class officers.  They are (l-r) Janet Rice (Weatherhogg), Joe Poteet, Leighton Kohloss (Dahl) and Ken Beno.

Irvin High School 50th Reunion

LET’S GO ROCKETS!

It’s time to celebrate, and time to REGISTER FOR THE 50TH REUNION. The Reunion Teams guarantees you a great time.  Come join us—Oct. 26-28, 2012 in El Paso!

Our host hotel, the Airport Holiday Inn, is the scene of a casual, fun-filled weekend, beginning with sign-in Friday afternoon.  After you've signed in, join the party at the Rocket Regroup, (the hospitality suite).  Friday night, step back in time at the Irvin vs. Bowie Homecoming game.

Saturday begins with a school tour, a return trip to tile-covered hallways and one-way staircases.  Continue your nostalgia tour with a stop at the Irvin parking lot for the Classy Classic Car Show featuring the cars and motor scooters from history’s car culture.

Then it’s on to lunch at the Great American Land & Cattle Co., owned by Irvin’s own ’62 grad Jack Nunn. After a break back at the hotel to rest and freshen up, it’s SHOW TIME.  The evening begins with a tasty Mexican food buffet, then it’s dancing to old favorites mixed by Irvin’s ’62 “Rockin’ Robert” White. Sunday’s Farewell breakfast gives you one more chance to visit with friends new and renewed—until our next reunion.

Register now (early birds save $10) by following tabs 2-5 on the left panel.  (Tab #1 is a repeat of this notice.)  See you in October!

Reunion Planning Team: Linda Thompson Harris, Mike Nichols, Jim Harris, Ruth (Ann) Wilson Hamilton, Pam Davis Cotten, Monica White Bruns, Bob White, Karen Propst Boozer, and special advisor Bryson McCool, ’61.

FLASH!  IRVIN—Making History—and a little Music

The Class of 1962 helped create many of Irvin’s “firsts.”   Read about the school’s early history, see some familiar faces, including Mr. Bean’s, and listen to the fight song, written in 1961 by Lynn Shirley (’63).   Click the Irvin History tab and take a trip back to 1962.

Don’t forget to check out who’s new on the site.   Our No. 1 Class Detective this week is Ann Wilson Hamilton who found Phyllis Gill (via brother Don Gill, ’60).   Welcome also to Cheryl Mossbauer Tipton, Gary McIntyre and Jack Martin.  The 54 classmates registered on the site are scattered among 27 states and four foreign countries.  Nearly 100 classmates are getting our emails, so sign up—it’s free.

Stay tuned…Reunion Registration is coming your way in a week (or so).   Here’s your picture of the week.
